Sign up for your FREE Home Energy and Water Tune-Up, before the program ends on December 31! I just had my tune-up done on my home, and I’m amazed that I didn’t pay a penny for it!
Who Is Eligible for the Home Energy and Water Tune-Up?
This is a FREE program, funded by the Center for Sustainable Energy. You don’t have to own your home. Renters and homeowners alike are eligible for the Home Energy and Water Tune-Up. You just have to be an SDG&E customer, with a home located in San Diego County.
What Happens During the Tune-Up?
An energy specialist from the Center for Sustainable Energy will come to your home for the tune-up, and start with a brief interview about your water and energy use.
After the interview, you the will tour the home together, checking your toilet tanks for leaks, inspecting faucets and shower heads for water efficiency, checking lightbulbs, and testing the refrigerator and freezer temperatures. The tour will also include an inspection of the water heater and laundry area.
You can also accept (for free!) a number of devices, such as:
- Energy-saving power strip
- LED lightbulbs (including dimmable bulbs)
- Water-saving shower head, and temperature valve (to save hot water)
- Water-saving bag for the toilet tank
- Water aerators for bathroom faucets
- Insulation for water heater pipes
- Meat thermometer (to measure refrigerator temperatures)
The entire home energy tune-up takes about 2 hours, depending on your home’s size.
